Couple of days ago, I was rummaging through my and my brother's stuff in our old room. Was looking for couple of thing but mainly - my brothers old Sony Walkman mp4 player. I was super excited when I finaly found it. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a cable for it and since it has proprietary connector, I order new one. Along with it I found my good old Creative Zen. Unfornately it's broken and I'm working on fixing it. Let's go back to the Sony player. It's NWZ-E443, 4GB of memory and it's been made in 2009. It was loaded with songs we listened when were teenagers and in our early 20s. Our tastes when it comes to music crossed over a lot and they still do, so I found a lot of bands I loved to listen like Strung Out, Face to Face, Deftones, Killswitch Engage, Distrubed, Rise Against and many more. Also a lot of other stuff like D'n'B (Netsky, Pendulum), some hip-hop/rap (Styles of Beyond, Cunnylinguists, Jedi Mind Tricks) and more. The player itself is fantastic. Intuitive, light and fast. 4GB is not a lot, but enough to not be bored with the music for some time. Also one definitive advantage over iPod I tried (or old iPhone without anything on it beside music) - it doesn't need any additional apps. It's just drag and drop. Fast and easy. Unfortunately it has some dead pixel in the display - result of my brother's snowoard fall. It doesn't actually bother me at all.

It's so refreshing using it instead of a phone. I feel like going back to listening albums from CDs and dedicated players is growing on me a lot. I used to be more mindful of the stuff I was listening to and it's slowly coming back to me.

I'll probably write some more about old tech I got (like PS1 and PS2 I still need to get back to work and potentially mod a bit). I want to also share a bit about the music that I listened and listen to, especially in context of playing it from cassetes when I was a kid and how it was changing over the years.
